Funeral services are scheduled today (Tuesday) at 2 p.m. at Miratsky-Easton Funeral Home in Powell for James Robert Sapp, 80, who died Friday, Nov. 24 at the Powell Hospital. He was born March 21, 1920, in Pueblo, Colo., son of James William Sapp and May Jennie (Baty) Sapp.

He married Dorothy Lee Stinson on July 29, 1939, in Los Angeles, Calif.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and took part in the D-Day Normandy Invasion. A businessman, he served on the city council in Bowling Green, Ohio, from 1957 to 1960. He was cited by Vice President Hubert Humphrey for a Jobs Development Youth Opportunity Campaign in 1966.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and Shriners.

Survivors include a son, James William Sapp of Powell; and sister-in-law Betty Sapp of Powell.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a sister, Frances Kohlschmidt; and two brothers, Al Sapp and W.C. Sapp. Michael Sapp of Shoshoni and Tim Sapp of Powell, nephews, will preside at the services. Pallbearers include Joshua Sapp, James Sapp, Eric Sapp, Toby Sapp, Casey Kehm, Bradley Sapp and Bryce Sapp.
