Lawrence Lyle ‘L.L.’ French

Lawrence Lyle “L.L.” French died on Dec. 10, at the nursing home in Powell. Lyle was born Feb. 25, 1927, to Gilbert and Rose French.

Lyle served in the United States Navy during World War II. In 1949, he contested a homestead on the Heart Mountain unit. He moved his family to Wyoming in the spring of 1950 with two children. The younger kids were born in Cody.

Lyle served his comunity on various boards and helped get natural gas to the farms on Heart Mountain. Lyle and Dorothy were life-long members of the First United Methodist Church of Powell.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, all of his siblings, and his wife Dorothy, who died in 2008.

He is survived by all five of his children, daughter Judy (Gene) Braten and sons Larry (Toni) French, Jerry (Rose) French, Tim (Becky) French and Glenn (Beth) French, all of Powell; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Lyle's memorial service will be held Tuesday, Dec. 21, at 4 p.m. at the Methodist Church.

Thompson Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
