Miguel G. Garcia, 80, died on Friday, Dec. 10, 2010 at Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco, Texas.
He was born Dec. 22, 1929, to Martin and Simona Garcia in Weslaco, Texas.
Miguel came to the Powell area to work on local farms for more than 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Maria Elida R. Garcia; two sons, Oscar Adan Garcia and Baldemar Israel Garcia; three brothers, Francisco Garcia,
Andres Garcia and Martin Garcia; and six sisters, Otila Lozano, Felipa Gonzalez, Guadalupe Garcia, Josefina Garcia, Julia Lopez and Esperanza Martinez.
He is survived by six sons, Miguel Garcia, Jr., Ismael Miguel Garcia, Alfredo Garcia, Fernando Atanasio Garcia, Efrain Santos Garcia, all of Weslaco, Texas, and Santiago “James” Garcia of Harlingen, Texas; and four daughters, Maria De La Luz Garcia of Katy, Texas, Maria Sipriana Buchanan of Cypress, Texas, Olga Lydia Dominguez of Bay City, Texas and Dolores Concepcion De la Fuente of Houston, Texas. Also surviving are 33 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held Sunday, Dec. 12 and Monday, Dec. 13 at Guerra Funeral Home of Weslaco – Chapel of The Angels.
A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14 at San Martin De Porres Catholic Church. Celebrant will be Deacon Jose G. Garza.
Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
Arrangements are under the direction of Guerra Funeral Home of Weslaco, Texas.
