Judith Lynn “Judy” McDonald died on June 24, 2017, at her home in Powell. She was 72.
Judy was born July 3, 1944, at Long Beach Seaside Memorial U.S Naval Hospital to Beulah Jacque Travis and Jess Willard Harvey.
She graduated from Powell High School. Judy and Billy Wayne McDonald were married on Oct. 12, 1961, at the Park County Courthouse in Cody.
The couple lived in Powell before Billy joined the Navy, and then moved to Long Beach, California.
Judy belonged to the Eagles, Powell Branch Library and the American Legion, and was a Christian. She enjoyed doing counted cross-stitch, reading, dinners with her family and caring for her cockatiel, Margie. Judy also cared for her neighbors’ needs when they were out of town. She enjoyed feeding wild birds and squirrels in her yard, her plants and flowers, and above all, cleaning her house daily.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Billy, grandson Casey Steele Wheeler, and younger brother David.
She is survived by son Harvey McDonald; daughter Jacqueline McDonald Mathis of Powell; brother Terry Harvey (Kim) of Billings, Montana; sister Kay Hovey of Powell and Basin; and three grandchildren: Elizabeth A. Mathis of Indianapolis, Ethan M. Love of Thermopolis, and Jacob E. Mathis of Powell.
Cremation has taken place and a family gathering will be held at a later date.
