Longtime Powell resident James Ellison, 93, died June 12, 2017, at St. Vincent Hospital in Billings, Montana.

His last residence was in Billings.

Jim was born Jan. 6, 1924, in Lyons, Kansas, son of Paul Ellison and Ivy C. (Ainsworth) Ellison. He graduated from Powell High School and served in the 101st Airborne from 1943-1945 during World War II. He married Mary Patricia Jamieson in Powell on Jan. 19, 1946.

He retired back to Powell after a career as an oil company administrative supervisor where he lived in many countries around the world.

He was a member of the Presbyterian church and the Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include two sons: Warren R. Ellison (Doris) of Janesville, Wisconsin, and James A. Ellison (Susan) of Montera, California; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife Mary Patricia; a son, Paul Ellison; his parents; and his sister, Helen.

Cremation has taken place.
