Duane L. Bright

Duane Bright Duane Bright

(Oct. 22, 1951 - May 10, 2017)

Duane L. Bright died on Wednesday, May 10, 2017, in Cody after a long battle with brain cancer. He was 65.

Duane was born Oct. 22, 1951, to Heart Mountain homesteaders Harley and Alice Bright.

He received a bachelor of arts degree in education.

On July 27, 2002, he married Mik McClain in Kelso Lake, Idaho. The couple made their home in various locations in Idaho and Montana, then Sheridan, and recently moved to Powell.

Duane worked as a teacher and a retail cashier. He utilized his friendly and outgoing personality to ensure no one he met was a stranger.

He was a gardener extraordinaire. Duane also enjoyed knife sharpening/refurbishing, hunting and fishing, exploring and motorcycling. His quick wit and creative sense of humor brought us together and will be missed.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harley L. Bright.

Duane is survived by his wife, Mik Bright of Powell; mother Alice Bright of Powell; stepson James (Amy) Mathias; stepdaughters Maggi (Gregg) Sloniger and Jamie (Sarah) Allison; sister Donna Bright; brother Gary (Sharon) Bright; nieces Cassandra (Ethan) Young; Racheal Bright; Laura (Brady) Schaefer; and nephew David Bright; and six grandchildren.

Thompson Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements and condolences may be sent to the family at www.thompsonfuneral.net or P.O. Box 807, Powell, WY, 82435.
