Janice Mae Stokes, 72, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, died March 14, 2017.

She was born to the late Weir and Margaret Battershell Feb. 25, 1945, in Plentywood, Montana.  

Janice graduated from Powell High School in 1963.

She married Jeff Stahn and had one son, Joel Stahn. She married John Stokes in 1987 and became stepmother to John’s two daughters, Shelby and Amy.

Janice worked for Giant Industries, Inc. for 16 years. She held the position of purchasing agent for six years at Ciniza Oil Refinery in Gallup, New Mexico. She then became human resource manager for the Travel Center. In 1995 she was promoted to HR manager for both the Travel Center and Giant’s Retail Division. She retired from Giant Industries in 2000.

Janice belonged to Woodmen Valley Chapel in Colorado Springs and enjoyed the teaching there immensely. She and John traveled and she was an avid reader. One of her favorite hobbies was scrapbooking for her family. It brought her much enjoyment and great memories for her family to cherish in the future.

Janice is survived by her husband, John; son, Joel Stahn of Colorado Springs; stepdaughters and sons-in-law, Shelby and Dugan Holt, Amy and Jimmy Tredwell of Amarillo, Texas; four grandchildren, Joel Stahn ll, Dugan Holt ll, Reagan Holt, and Morgan Holt. She is also survived by two sisters, Mary Ellen Barrett, Barbra Herdt and brother- in-law, Mel Herdt, two brothers and sister-in-laws, Jim and Barbara Battershell, Paul and Judy Battershell.

Memorial donations in Janice’s name can made to the Parkinson’s Foundation.

Memorial services will be held Friday, March 31, at 1 p.m. at Woodmen Valley Chapel in the Stone Chapel in Colorado Springs.
