Michael Wayne ‘Mick’ Scott

Michael Wayne “Mick” Scott, 76, died peacefully on Feb. 24, 2017, due to complications after open heart surgery. His family was by his side.

He was born Jan. 19, 1941, in Powell, to Audrey “Pat” Scott and Wayne Scott. He graduated from Powell High School in 1959.

Mick married Mona Heny in 1960. They had two daughters, Jodie and Terri. In 1974, Ede McNeil became part of the family, a blessing for all. Mick and Mona were married for 33 years and later divorced.

Eighteen years ago, Mick met Georgene Hert. They loved, laughed and enjoyed their time together.

Mick liked horses and worked as a wrangler at Blackwater Lodge. He had a passion for the outdoors and enjoyed flying airplanes.

Mick loved to shoot guns and was an accomplished marksman. In the day, he was a member of the Rattlesnake Gunslingers with Bob Edgar, and won many trophies. He had a lifelong passion for hot rod cars.

Mick dabbled in many endeavors. He was owner and operator of Wayne Scott and Son, a heavy equipment company, Scott’s Granite Trailer Park and Seismic Enterprises.

Mick was a member of the Powell Rod & Gun Club, the Powell Jaycees and Elks Lodge. He was a Powell Fire Department volunteer for 10 years.

Mick was best known as a family man. He had a fair sized immediate family, yet had an extensive family of friends. He was always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need. Mick could tell a good story and had many to share.

He is survived by three daughters, Jodie (Steve) Keller, Terri (J.D.) Roemmich, Ede (Jim) Dozier; grandkids, Justin Koehler, Lacey (Zach) Hart, Brandon (Whitney) Koehler, Weston Roemmich, Jared and Trent Dozier; and four great-grandkids. 

Mick also loved his extended family, Georgene Hert, Staci (Kevin) Johnson, Blake and Kade, Melissa McAlmond, Shawn (Shawna) Hert and children, Craig (Ana) Hert and children.

Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Friday, March 3, at Ballard Funeral Home. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 3-4 p.m.

A memorial fund has been established to purchase a bench in memory of Mick, and donations can be sent to P.O. Box 188 Cody, WY 82414.
