Shirley Dee Haskins, 90, of Douglas, Wyoming passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2016, at the Memorial Hospital of Converse County in Douglas, Wyoming with her three children at her side. 

Shirley was born to Paul Wilmer and Bertha Mae (Medlar) Bullock in Kimball, Nebraska on Saturday, August 14, 1926. Most of her formative years were spent in Torrington, Wyoming where she graduated from high school in 1944. She attended the University of Wyoming from 1944 to 1948 where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority.

Shirley was married to Raymond Wayne Haskins on July 3, 1946 in Torrington. After Ray graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1950, they lived in Rapid City, South Dakota and Laramie, Torrington, Huntley, and Powell, Wyoming where Ray taught school and coached. During her married life, Shirley worked at the University of Wyoming in Laramie, Northwest College in Powell, and the Converse County Bank in Douglas. Shirley also taught piano, owned and taught kindergarten, and sold Mary Kay products.

She loved jewelry, music, animals, flowers, the great outdoors, jokes, sports, and playing bridge. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Her hobbies included playing the piano, collecting jewelry, listening to music, knitting, and potted plants.

Shirley was a 52 year member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood where she was Past President of the Wyoming State Chapter; a member of Eastern Star for 59 years; a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 53 years; a member of the United Methodist Church in Powell, Wyoming where she was the Choir Director for 20 years; and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Douglas, Wyoming where she played the piano and sang in the choir for over 35 years.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Phyllis; two brothers, Don and Dick; husband, Ray, on May 5, 2006; and two sons, Donald and Barron. 

She is survived by son, Richard (Sherry) Haskins of Phoenix, Arizona; and daughters, Dee Wood (Mike Sheridan) and Dawn (Tim) Pexton both of Douglas, Wyoming. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be conducted on Saturday, May 27, 2017.
