Warren Larsen, 96, died Oct. 18, 2016, at the Powell Valley Care Center.

Warren was born on May 3, 1920, in Ewington Township, Jackson County, Minnesota, to Marry Lottie Flewelling and Arthur Manning Larsen.

Warren married Jennie M. Koning on Oct. 16, 1942, in Worthington, Minnesota. The couple had four children: Larry (Jackie) Larsen of Greybull, Carol (Floyd) Flemmer of Hillsboro, Oregon, Jamies (Bobbie) Larsen of Douglas and Jodi (Neil) Boluyt of Cody, along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Warren served in the U.S. Navy from 1942-45 in the Solomon Islands during WWII. He spent time on many islands, including Guadalcanal, Bougainville and Munda while serving in an outfit known as PATSU 1-1 that kept PBY planes flying.

After his wife of 60 years died in 2003, Warren remarried. He and Norma Avis married in December 2005. They lived in Powell.

Warren lived in many towns and cities, including Worthington and Windom, Minnesota, Minot and Riverdale, North Dakota, Alcova, Cody and Powell, Wyoming, and Astoria, Oregon.

Warren’s past occupations entailed delivering propane bottles; he owned a small grocery store. He ran a filling station, and he also worked for the Air Force at the Minot AFB. Also, he worked as a power plant operator for the Corps of Engineers and the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation.

Warren loved hunting and fishing. Even more, he enjoyed his family, especially the young children.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Stan and Gene Larsen, and his wife Jennie.

Warren is survived by his wife Norma; his four children, plus many grandkids, great-grandkids and great-great grandkids, aged 50 to 1 years old.

A memorial service was Oct. 22 at Charity Baptist Church.
