(June 9, 1937 - April 25, 2016)

Ann Tryon, 78, of Cody, died April 25, 2016, with her four daughters by her side.

Ann was born June 9, 1937, in Cody, to Willard and Mable (Giles) Ohlson.

She graduated from Cody High School in 1955, married her high school sweetheart, Rex Tryon, on April 6, 1956, and they made their home in Cody.

She worked various jobs including the lunch counter in Woolworth’s, Husky gas station, the Yellowstone Gift Shop and Eastgate Laundry. Her joy was being a homemaker and raising their four daughters. Ann was a devoted mother and kept busy raising the girls.

Ann and Rex enjoyed spending time together in Sunlight and Crandall which they always referred to as “God’s Country.”

She had a unique gift of crocheting beautiful heirlooms to be passed down for generations and enjoyed many types of craftwork. Ann also was an avid fisherwoman and hunter and was proud that she trumped Rex with some of her trophies.

She was preceded in death by her husband Rex and her parents Willard and Mable Ohlson.

Ann is survived by her four daughters, Debbie (Dan) Latimer, Suzie (Rod) Tripp, Patti (Jim) Umphlett and Pam Swaim, all of Cody. Ann played an active role as grandmother to her nine grandchildren: Leslie Karlik, Lindsey (Joshua) Brice, Daniel Latimer, Ben (Caitlyn) Tripp of California, Sara Tripp of Sheridan, Sam Tripp of Bozeman, Montana, Janelle (Zach) Paris of Lincoln, Nebraska, Chris Swaim of Cody and Tayler Swaim of Boise, Idaho. She also adored her three great-granddaughters, Harlee Karlik, Jaida Brice and Ashlyn Brice. Ann has two surviving brothers who loved and cared for their sister, Willard (Merilyn) Ohlson and Daniel (Carolyn) Ohlson, all from Washington.

Ann was a caregiver to many and led others by her example of courage and strength. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of the more traditional service, the family would like those to consider paying it forward by doing a kind deed for someone else.
