Fred Schutzman, 74, of Cody, died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2016, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Fromberg, Montana, on Dec. 1, 1941 to Clementine and Adam Schutzman.  Fred was educated in Fromberg, followed by one year of electronic school in Denver and appliance training school in Billings.

Fred married his love, Rose Nitchman, on May 4, 1963, at Little Flower Church in Billings.

Fred cherished his four children, Teresa Schutzman of Cody, Kristi (Chad) Taylor of Shanghai, China, Rod (Sheri) of Cody and Dusty (Michelle) of Cody. His grandchildren include A.J. (Kylie), Brooke (Bryan), Cierra, Shaylee, Torrie, Heather, Ashley, Jessica, Hanna, Carter, Logan, and Brody; and one great-grandchild, Hayden.

Fred worked for Westwood Appliance in Billings prior to moving to Cody where he was employed at Cody Electric, Heart Mountain Oil, Schlumberger Well Service, and Park County School District No. 6, which he retired from.

He enjoyed coaching his sons and grandson in baseball. Fred’s love was for the great outdoors with activities like camping, fishing and hunting. He could often be found supporting his kids and grandkids at their many sporting events. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Cody.

Fred was preceded in death by a daughter, Debbie, his parents and two sisters.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years; four children; 12 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter, and several nephews and nieces.

Rosary services were on Sunday, Feb. 28, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial was on Monday, Feb. 29, at the church.

Ballard Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
