John W. Cozzens

John W. Cozzens, 85, of Powell, died Feb. 15, 2016, at Spirit Mountain Hospice House in Cody. 

He was born June 25, 1930, in Powell, to Joseph Francis and Bertha Fawcett Cozzens. He graduated from Powell High School in 1950 and from 1951-54 served in the United States Marine Corps. 

On June 2, 1959, he married Minnie White of Ramah, New Mexico, in the Idaho Falls Temple. The couple settled near Ralston, where they farmed for the next 32 years. After retiring from farming in 1991, they drove for Ken George Trucking until 2011. 

John was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. 

He is survived by his wife, Minnie; and their six children: Sonya (Steve) Murphy of Cody; Doug (Heidi) Cozzens of Commerce, Georgia; Richard Cozzens of Cedar City, Utah; Melinda (Brian) Ballard of Byron; Roger Cozzens of Provo, Utah; and Daniel (Tiffannie) Cozzens of Ogden, Utah; sisters-in-law, Betty (Melvin) Cozzens of Cody, Vesa (Matthew) Cozzens of Des Moines, Iowa and Virginia White of Gallup, New Mexico; 27 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. 

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 20, at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Avenue E building in Powell, with Dirk Cozzens conducting. 

Serving as honorary pallbearers are Sean Murphy, Eric Murphy, Ryan Murphy, Kyle Murphy, Alex Murphy, Neal Murphy, Shane Cozzens, Cameron Cozzens, A.J. Cozzens, Ben Cozzens, Kevin Ballard, Jonathan Ballard, Steven Ballard, Darren Ballard, Nathan Ballard, Austin Ballard, and Davis Cozzens. 

Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.
