Richard “Dick” Warren died Monday, Feb. 8, 2016, at Spirit Mountain Hospice in Cody.

He was born April 7, 1947, in Long Prairie, Minnesota, to Ralph and Rosella (Scott) Warren.

Dick attended Carter Country School in Todd County, Minnesota. He graduated in 1965 from Eagle Bend High School in Eagle Bend, Minnesota. Dick then went on to receive his associate’s degree from Dunwoody College of Technology in St. Paul, Minnesota.

On Sept. 20, 1969, Dick married the love of his life, Janet Lee, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Bertha, Minnesota.

The couple lived in St. Louis Park, Minnesota, for one year before moving to Powell in June 1970. Dick worked for Okay Chevrolet as an automotive mechanic. He also worked for Whitlock Motors, Big Horn Co-op and Garvin Motors until starting his own business, Dick’s Repair, for the last several years.

Dick was a member of the Powell Eagles Club and Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.

His four grandchildren were the love of his life. They called him Grandpa Dibble. He never missed any of their activities, whether it was clogging, baseball, basketball, swimming, soccer, volleyball, goat or horse showmanship and riding. Dick taught them all about gun safety and hunting.

Dick enjoyed hunting, fishing, attending car shows and swap meets and, of course, garage sales!

He had an enormous amount of love and compassion for all animals, especially dogs and cats. His family called him their St. Francis of Assisi.

He was preceded in death by his parents, aunts, uncles, and a niece and nephew.

Dick is survived by his wife of 46 years, Jan; son John (Stephanie) Warren and daughter Stephanie (Rick) Ramsey, all of Powell; daughter Suzie (Brandon) Rogge of Laurel, Montana; grandchildren Rylee and Raelynn Ramsey and Kyler and Korbyn Warren. He is also survived by brothers Bill (Linda) Warren of Eagle Bend, Minnesota, Randy (Sharon) Warren of Powell, Dennis (Nikki) Warren of Miltona, Minnesota; sisters Karen (David) Pommerening of Osakis, Minnesota, and Barb Erickson of Eagle Bend, Minnesota; brothers-in-law Charles (Brenda) Lee of Wadena, Minnesota, and Tim (Becky) Lee of Parkers Prairie, Minnesota; sisters-in-law Lucy (Chuck) Walker of Villard, Minnesota, Pat (Max) Crumrine of Lovell and Julie Piere of Miltona, Minnesota; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Also very special to him were his grand-dogs, Murphy and Henry, and grand-cat, Digit.

A memorial Mass will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 15, at St. Barbara’s Catholic Church in Powell, with burial following at Crown Hill Cemetery. A reception in Carroll Hall will be held after interment.

A memorial gathering will be held from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 14, at the Powell Eagles Hall. Please join the family for food, laughter, tears and memories.

Thompson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial donations in Dick’s name can be made to Spirit Mountain Hospice House in Cody.

“Rest in peace,” how much this says, be free of pain, no more to weep.

Find joy that never ends, possess new life that here you would not keep.

“Rest in peace,” and though we grieve, reaching for your hand in vain, our faith is such

that we believe that all of us shall meet you again. We love you, Grandpa Dibble.
