Carline Kay (Davis) Burken of Powell died at Spirit Mountain Hospice on Feb. 7, 2016. She was 71.

Carline was born May 10, 1944, to Paris and Edna (McKeever) Davis at their home in Waynesville, Ohio.

She graduated from Waynesville High School in 1963. After graduation, she went to IBM school where she was placed in Wright Patterson Air Force base to work for about a year. She then went to a clerical school sponsored by the State of Ohio, where she was placed in a job at the Cincinnati General Hospital in the psych department. She worked her way up to supervisor in the in-patient section of the psych department.

Carline met her husband, Allan H. Burken, in October 1970 and they were married on Feb. 13, 1971. The couple moved to Clinton, Iowa, where she worked at Jane Lamb Hospital and Blain’s Farm & Fleet store.

In 1976, they moved to Fort Collins, Colorado, where Allan worked at Woodward Governor and Carline worked at two different real estate offices. In 1978, they moved to the Columbia Falls/Whitefish, Montana, area, where they started their own business named Midway Rental & Power Equipment.

In July 1994, the couple sold their business and retired and moved to Powell. They spent eight months in Powell during the summer weather and four months around the Yuma, Arizona, area and recently in Golden Valley, Arizona, during the winter months.

She attended the Catholic church.

Camping, road trips and coffee with friends were some of Carline’s favorite things to do — especially having coffee with friends.  Carline will be missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her father Paris Davis, brother Bill Davis, maternal grandmother Lizzie McKeever, and two nephews, Vincent and Paris Davis Leyes.

Carline is survived by her husband of nearly 45 years, Allan; mother Edna Davis; sister Mary Mitchell; sister Suzanne (James) Leyes; brother Gary (Liz) Davis; as well many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, at St. Barbara’s Catholic Church, with Father Glen officiating. She will be buried in Preston, Iowa, at Sugar Creek.

Thompson Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
