Elaine Davis, 88, of Cody, died Jan. 26, 2016, with her family by her side.

Roberta Elaine Crips was born to Kenneth LeRoy and Bessie (Billings) Crips on Sept. 19, 1927, on her parents’ homestead on Ishawooa Creek near Cody.

Elaine attended Cody schools and Northwest College. As a young woman, working for the phone company as a switchboard operator, she began dating and soon afterward married the love of her life, Loren Elmer Davis. They were married for 59 years when Loren died in 2008.

Elaine was always an active and giving member of her community. She served as a Red Cross First Aide, a 4-H leader, a Girl Scout leader and den mother. Elaine worked for Schlumberger Well Service as an administrative assistant, and later became a very caring CNA for West Park Hospital.

Elaine was a prominent member of the Rebekahs Lodge for 53 years and was honored as Wyoming Rebekah of the Year in 2015. She was also active in the Handy Hands Extension Club and the Presbyterian Church. She proudly served as an election judge for many years.

Elaine was a master seamstress, accomplished artist and talented pianist. She enjoyed playing board games, gardening, bird watching, camping and quilting. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Elaine was a loving and supportive wife, mother and grandmother. Her children fondly remember her as a classy lady with a strong will and spirited sense of humor.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather John Jernberg; beloved husband Loren; oldest daughter Katherine Louise Buckman; and two grandsons.

She is survived by her younger brother Ben (Patty) Crips; three children, Malinda Jo (Mike) Sheets, Loren Steven (Sky) Davis and Jodi (Harry) Laney; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will take place on Saturday, Feb. 6, at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Cody. A luncheon will follow in the fellowship hall at the church. Memorial donations in Elaine’s name can be made to the Cody Odd Fellows/Rebekahs Lodge or Spirit Mountain Hospice House.
