Rose Garcia Vega of Powell died Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016, at the Powell hospital. She was 86.
Rose was born on Sept. 9, 1929, in Bryan, Texas, to Manuela (Hernandez) and Manuel Garcia.
Following high school, she married Ysidro Vega in Lovell in 1945.
Rose was a wonderful mother and grandmother who lived to see five generations-plus. She was a compassionate person to all.
Rose loved traveling the countryside. She also enjoyed sewing and crocheting.
She attended the Catholic church.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her sons Jesse (Donna) Vega, Ysidro (Tammy) Vega Jr. and Joseph Vega; daughters Mary Vega Gutierrez, Helen Vega (J.R.) Gonzales, Margaret Vega (Tom) Chambers and Lupe Vega Bickford. Rose also is survived by 17 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 27 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral Mass services will be held at St. Barbara’s Catholic Church in Powell on Friday, Jan. 15, at 10 a.m., with Father Glenn Whewell officiating.
Rosary will be Thursday evening beginning at 6:30 p.m., also at the church.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Scott Scheeler, Michael Bernard, Kevin Butterfield, Stephen Parker, Kenny Parker, Nick Bickford and Henry Gutierrez III.
