Patricia Ann Seeburg passed away on November 8, 2015, at the age of 85, in Lovell.
The second of three sisters, Pat was born May 13, 1930, in Rock Springs, to Mary Ellen and Clarence Seeburg.
Pat spent her early years in Rock Springs and graduated from Rock Springs High School. Pat contracted polio at a young age and underwent extensive and difficult treatment, including confinement in an iron lung and, subsequently, the Sister Kinney Method of relearning to walk. None of this ever dampened her spirit, nor diminished her goals. She attended the University of Wyoming, Laramie, where she was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority; she graduated in 1952 with a BA degree in Math Education. Pat then pursued a long, successful career as a Home Economics teacher — a natural fit, as she was an excellent cook and seamstress. Pat began teaching in Egbert, then taught in Lingle for a few years, before settling in Powell in 1960, where she taught until she retired in 1989. She was a member of the American Association of University Women, who honored her earlier in 2015 for more than 50 years of membership. She was an avid reader and enthusiastic book club participant; when Pat moved to Lovell, her fellow book club members graciously moved their meetings from Powell to Lovell to include her. Pat also found time in her life to become an accomplished pianist.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents and by her older sister, Mary Jean Delaplaine, her younger sister, Nancy Cummings, and her brother-in-law, John Delaplaine, from Cheyenne. She is survived by her brother-in-law, Bliss Cummings, from Hannah; her eight nieces and nephews, Nancy Jean, Kirk, Mark, Eric, Christopher, Claire, Patrick, and Kathleen; her 13 great-nieces and nephews, Heather, Konan, Shane, Brendan, Erica, Chelsea, Tanner, Kyle, Colton, Kiersten, Alexandra, Cameron, and Rebecca; and her seven great-great-nieces and nephews, Savannah, Clara, Christian, Rowen, Gavin, Eddie and Eliaz.
Pat was a person who gave more to the world than she took from it. She always had an attitude of, Don’t bother about me, I can manage. But while she never seemed concerned about herself, Pat was always concerned about others. Pat was known for her intelligence, dry wit, and friendly spirit.
Pat’s family is grateful for the wonderful care she received at New Horizons Care Center in Lovell, for her dear friend Linda Cross, and for her many friends in Powell and across Wyoming. There will be a celebration of Pat’s life in the Spring of 2016. Pat was much-loved, and will be missed deeply by all who knew her.
