B. Jean Sherman died Oct. 4, 2015, at the Powell Valley Care Center at the age of 89.

Jean was born June 27, 1926, to Victor and Elsie Edwards in Ismay, Montana, later moving to Bloomington, Wisconsin. Her brother Frederick Edwards of Bloomington preceded her in death. Her sister W. Joyce Riechers resides in Platteville, Wisconsin.

Jean married Robert F. Sherman of Bloomington on March 12, 1948, where they started their married life on the Sherman family farm in Glen Haven, Wisconsin. In 1962, Jean and Bob moved their growing family to Powell.

Jean and Bob raised their six children in Powell where Jean was a member of the United Methodist Church and an active member of several organizations, including the Order of the Eastern Star for 57-plus years, Daughters of the Nile and Rebekah’s.

An avid reader and gardener, Jean was never one to say no when Robert said, “Let’s go camping.” Often taking their horses with them, they spent many days and nights on the North Fork camping and fishing.

Jean is survived by her husband Robert Sherman of Powell; six children, Vicky (Bob) Edwards of Powell, Patricia (Alan) Pickering of Indialantic, Florida, Dennis (Donna) Sherman of Vidar, Texas, Roger (Brenda) Sherman of Roseau, Minnesota, Connie Susan (Ron) Mann of Kasilof, Alaska, Frank (Kelly) Sherman of Lusk; 10 children and a bunch of great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations in her name can be made to Order of the Eastern Star at P.O. Box 1223, Powell, WY 82435 or to the Powell Valley Care Center. Donations can be made to the Powell Medical Foundation, 777 Avenue H, Powell, WY 82435, and use the memo line to designate donations to the Care Center.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
