Michael Joseph Schumacher, 60, of Cheyenne, died Aug. 7, 2015, from injuries sustained in a one-vehicle accident near his home on the Shellback Ranch in Cheyenne.

Mike was born on Nov. 2, 1954, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Mike was a resident of rural Iowa until he left home to attend college at Creighton University where he obtained his bachelor of science in business administration in 1976. Mike later went on to receive his master of business administration from the University of South Dakota in 1989. In 1982, Mike started his family by marrying Sharon in Hastings, Minnesota. They had six children. In 1996, they moved to Cody, and Mike remained in Cody until his recent relocation to Cheyenne.

Mike worked in community and commercial banking for 37 years in positions of executive management. Mike moved to Cheyenne to assume the position of director of finance for the Diocese of Cheyenne.

He is survived by his mother and father, Robert and Phyllis Schumacher; six children, Sarah Schumacher, Karen Schumacher, Bobby Schumacher, Luke Schumacher, Jerome Schumacher and Bridget Schumacher; 14 brothers and sisters, Kathy Schumacher, Deb (Craig) McGarry, Pat (Linda) Schumacher, Kris Schumacher, Cindy Schumacher, Beth (Doug) Gronewold, Anne Schumacher, Steve (Mary) Schumacher, Bob (Glenda) Schumacher, Joe (Nancy) Schumacher, Paul Schumacher, Jim Schumacher, Margaret (Brian) Althaus, and Martha (James) Lemar; one grandson, Aidan Schumacher; one granddaughter, Peyton Schumacher; and numerous uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Curly and Charlotte Schumacher and maternal grandparents Mark and Peggy Smith; granddaughter Rylee Schumacher; and nephew Benjamin Schumacher.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 14, at the Church of Saint Anthony’s at 1333 Monument St. in Cody. The vigil will be held  at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13. The interment will be in Duncombe, Iowa, at Saint Joseph Cemetery at a later date next week.
