Deborah Ann Craghill died Sunday, May 31, 2015, after a long fight with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). She was 60.

Debbie was born in Bakersfield, California, on Oct. 15, 1954, to Laurene and Alfred Bingeman.

She grew up in both Wyoming and Pismo Beach, California. Debbie attended Arroyo Grande High School, where she met and married her husband Scott Craghill in September 1973.

She worked as an administrative assistant and helped with educational outreach in California, and also with the Forest Service in Idaho and Wyoming.

Debbie cherished working with biologists and rangers, who together helped make nature accessible to school age children, by inspiring a wonder for the great outdoors.

Debbie was a caring, kind woman who loved gardening, reading, fishing and traveling, but family brought her the most joy. Spending time with her children and grandchildren, no matter the sport or circumstance brought her happiness.

Debbie was always quick with a smile and a laugh, and there was never a time she would say no when someone she cared about needed her.

Deborah was a shining, amazing light of a person who will be missed by everyone she had touched.

Debbie is survived by her husband and love of her life for 40 amazing years, Scott Craghill; daughter Brooke and son-in-law Josh Stewart; grandchildren Ryder and Beau Stewart of Powell; son Aaron; granddaughters Layla of Illinois and Jaiden of California; brother Terry Bingeman of Pismo Beach, California; sister-in-law Colleen Craghill Fagerburg and husband Mark; niece Kelly Craghill Fagerburg and family of North Dakota; aunts Eleanor Anderson of California and Joyce Bingeman of Nevada; and many other beloved cousins, family members and countless friends.

A remembrance service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 6, at Thompson Funeral Home in Powell.

To continue her fight against ALS, donations can be made in Deborah Craghill’s name through The ALS Association Rocky Mountain Chapter.
