Sharon Raye Burnett Thompson died Thursday, March 26, 2015. She was 62.

Sharon was born Oct. 11, 1952, in Powell to William H. Burnett, Jr. and Estella Marie Dalke. Sharon grew up in Powell, attending Powell schools and Northwest College.

In September 1975, Sharon married Larry Thompson of Pocatello, Idaho. During their 34 years of marriage, they lived in Idaho, Wyoming, Ohio, Lagos, Nigeria and Houston, where they lived for over 30 years.

Sharon worked for Stewart Title Guaranty Company as executive administrative assistant to the corporate controller. She was employed with Stewart for 32 years.

While in Sugar Land, Sharon was a member of Fellowship of Praise in Stafford, Texas, and loved her church family. She sang on the praise and worship team and has cherished memories of this time.

In 2011-12 Sharon was diagnosed with breast cancer. Her church family rallied with extended support during this journey, as did many friends from Stewart Title and around the country. She recognized that the prayers and constant support sustained her through this difficult time. For this, she never forgot the acts of kindness and always expressed great appreciation. Sharon was an inspiration through her faith, giving thanks to the Lord for his faithfulness.

Sharon returned to Powell in June 2014 and worked as a part-time-temp at Northwest College in the Department of Nursing and was later hired on part-time with Copenhaver, Kath, Kitchen and Kolpitcke Law Firm. Due to another onset of cancer she left there to tend to her health.

Sharon was preceded in death by her father Bill Burnett, nephew Brian Burnett, maternal grandparents  John and Emma Dalke, paternal grandparents Bill Burnett Sr. and Mae Burnett Coulter.

She is survived by her mother Estella Burnett of Powell; brother Gary (Peggy) of Edmond, Okla.; twin sister Karon (Bruce) Keahey of Sheridan; brother Gerald (Ann) Burnett of Aurora, Colo.; as well as deeply loved nieces, nephews and great-nephews (Sean and Cori Burnett; Stephanie Johnston and her sons Sullivan, Nolan and Preston Johnston and Ryan Keahey).

Memorials can be to the Powell Medical Foundation or the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 2, at the New Life Church of Powell. Burial will be in the Crown Hill Cemetery following services.

Arrangements are being handled by Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory.
