Darlene Fay Butler, 72, of Cody, died peacefully in her sleep with her family by her side at West Park Long Term Care Center on March 11, 2015.

Darlene was born Oct. 16, 1942, in Cody to Marvin and Dora Holder.

She attended and graduated from Cody High School. After graduation, Darlene attended the School of Cosmetology in Billings. She moved back to Cody and studied the art of her trade. In 1975 Darlene and her mom started the Hair Affaire Beauty Salon and Clothes Tree clothing business.

Darlene’s business, now called the 11th Street Spa, is operated by her daughter Monica Lyn. Monica continues the love and friendship Darlene showed to all of her friends and clients for 50 years.

In 1967 Darlene met the love of her life John Q.A. Butler. They enjoyed 46 years of marriage. In 1969 they had a son, John Butler III, and in 1973 their daughter Monica was born.

Darlene loved to travel, ride her four-wheeler, fish, and most of all bowl with all of her friends. She always wanted to help someone who was interested in learning how to bowl.

When Darlene was on a trip, she always had to cut it short so she could get back to her friends and family.

She is survived by her husband John Butler II, son John (Nikki) Butler III, their children Jordon, Korah, Asher, and Leven, daughter Monica Lyn (Tom) Paul, and their children Ashton, Isaac, and Andy.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents and sister Marlene.

Funeral services will be at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Stake Center on Tuesday, March 17, at 11 a.m. Interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery and a reception at Olive Glenn Country Club will follow.
