Kenneth Wayne Lundvall died Monday, Nov. 17, 2014, following a brief illness. He was surrounded by his family at West Park Hospital in Cody. He was 78.

Wayne was born on July 7, 1936, in Cody, to Kenneth Charles Lundvall and Norma Pearl Gail.

He grew up north of Cody on Paint Creek and the Monument Hill Ranch working cattle and riding horses.

Wayne met his future bride while on a double date, although his date that night was not Barbra! They eventually fell in love and married on Nov. 19, 1955, and they were blessed with five children within the next seven years.

Wayne apprenticed for Howard Newsome for four years learning the boot repair trade until he purchased the business in 1959, renaming it Wayne’s Shoe Shop. In 1973, Wayne purchased a few styles of Nocona boots, and Wayne’s Boot Shop began. He retired in 1996 and sold the shop to his son, Kevin.

Although Wayne enjoyed hunting and was a master fly fisherman, his two greatest passions were his family and his faith. Wayne accepted the Lord as his savior in his early 20s. He was known for thanking God for his goodness and his greatness.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Barbra, and his children, Karen (Terry) Thomas of Albuquerque, N.M., Kenny Lundvall, Kevin (Kim) Lundvall, Keith (Vonnie) Lundvall, and Kristie (Rick) Hendrich, all of Cody. He was “Gramps” to 16 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Gary (Betty) Lundvall of Cody, his sister Evelyn “Susie” (Jim) Freshour of Mesa, Ariz., and his brother Don Lundvall of Sheridan.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Nov. 20, from 5-6:30 p.m. at Ballard Funeral Home in Cody. The funeral service will be officiated by Pastor Joseph Hutcheson at the Cody Cattle Company on Friday, Nov. 21, at 11 a.m., followed by a graveside service at Riverside Cemetery in Cody.

Memorial donations can be made to the Wapiti Valley Church Building Fund (P. O. Box 181, Wapiti, WY, 82450), or a charity of your choice.
