Ronald Howard Nading was born Sept. 9, 1947, to Lyle and Patricia (Lange) Nading in Independence, Iowa.

Ron died on Sept. 27, 2014, in Red Lodge, Mont., from natural causes. He was 67.

Ron was a hard-working man with a good sense of humor. He always took his reputation seriously. The Nading name meant everything to him.

Ron graduated from Cody High School in 1965. He was an active member in the Future Farmers of America. 

On Feb. 27, 1968, Ron enlisted in the U.S. Army. After his training was completed he received orders to go to Vietnam. While assigned to Ninth Infantry Division, he received four Bronze Stars for valor and distinction on the battlefield.

He received an honorable discharge in February 1970. 

He married Helen Baker on Dec. 12, 1970, and they were married for almost 20 years and had six kids. 

He later married Sharon Lanik from Cody on Sept. 21, 1990.

Ron had his own construction business building roads from 1970 to 1977. He worked for Cody Lumber as a wood boss. He took a job for Pat O’Hara as one of their supervisors. 

After a few years, he went back to work at Cody Lumber hauling logs to the lumber yard. Finally in 1985, Ron went to work for the Wyoming Highway Department working on the state roads. He retired from the Wyoming Highway Department in 2006. In addition, he had his own wood business selling firewood to the residents of Cody and surrounding areas.

Late in 2006, Ron was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease with dementia. In August, his Alzheimer’s disease was getting worse and he was put in Edgewood Villas in Billings, Mont. After 10 days his health deteriorated rapidly and he was admitted to the Deaconess Billings Clinic. When he was released he went to live out the remainder of his days in Cedar Wood Villas nursing home in Red Lodge, Mont.

Ron is survived by his wife Sharon of Cody; six children: Ronald Nading Jr. (Crystal) of Casper, Micheal Nading Sr. (Paige) of Casper, Versaville (Peter) DeToffoli of Granada Hills, Calif., Russell Nading (Ginny) of Casper, Rachel (Ralph) Wynn of Ponca City, Okla., and Chantel (Tom) McClure of Hugoton, Kan.; mother, Patricia Nading of Cody; two sisters Sandra (Jacob) Renner of Belfield, N.D., and Carol Raile of Cody; and stepson Brian Riley of Cody. Ron also had 21 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father Lyle Nading (1995) and sister Sharron Nading (1945).

Memorial donations can be made to the Cure Alzheimer’s Fund.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 3, at Ballard Funeral Home.

Processional will follow at the Riverside Cemetery, and a celebration of life luncheon will follow at noon at the VFW.
