Rocky Wayne Moore died at his home in Powell on Oct. 15, 2014, surrounded by family. He was 68.

He was born in Rexburg, Idaho, on Feb. 2, 1946.

Rocky lived a full life filled with all the simple pleasures.

He spent his childhood in Cobalt, Idaho. He graduated from Cokeville High School in 1964 and then attended Northwest College and Eastern Montana, where he obtained his degree in education.

This began his 42-year career as a fifth-grade teacher. Teaching was by far the greatest talent that God bestowed on him, and one of his greatest joys was molding young minds. He taught school in Billings, Mont., Big Piney and Cokeville.

Rocky married Doris Marie Pflipsen on June 13, 1970, in Billings. Eventually they settled in Cokeville to raise a family. They had three children. In addition to his teaching, he also was involved in many volunteer and civic activities including the volunteer fire department, city council, city judge and Scouts.

Rocky was also known for his love of history and the outdoors, North Dakota jokes, prowess in fishing, gardening and visiting with neighbors as he enjoyed a beautiful day. He had a love of family and enjoyed hunting and fishing with his brothers and sons, and playing games with his grandchildren.

He will be missed by everyone who knew him.

Rocky is survived by his wife, Doris Moore; his children, Daniel Moore and daughter-in-law Juliet Tardy of Anchorage, Alaska, Lenita Moore and son-in-law Douglas Lobingier of Powell and Jedediah and daughter-in-law Tiffany Moore of Littleton, Colo.; his brothers, George Moore of Cokeville, Steve and Luci Moore of Cokeville, Joe and Trudy Moore of Lyman; three grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenda and George Moore, and his sister, Glenda Nicholas, and several grandchildren, including Clayton Lawrence Moore.

In remembrance of Rocky, buy a fishing pole for a kid and take them fishing.

Arrangements are being handled by Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory.
