(Dec. 29, 1946 - Sept. 10, 2014)

Ronald H. Johnson, 67, died Sept. 10, 2014 at the Golden Living Center in Scottsbluff, Neb.

Ron was born Dec. 29, 1946, in Powell, the son of Hubert Paul and Edith Katherine (Beckman) Johnson. He grew up on the Beckman homestead that borders Powell to the north.

Even as a child, he was responsible and mature beyond his years, setting an example for his younger siblings. Ron chose to serve the Lord in his early teens and made it his life.

Ron graduated from Powell High School in 1965 and the University of Wyoming in 1969 with an engineering degree. He then worked as a senior management analyst at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton, Wash., followed by a position at the Trident Missile Base in Silverdale, Wash.

On May 29, 1970, Ron married Evelyn K. Middleswarth of Torrington. The couple had two children, Shawna and Aimee.

After completing his master’s degree in systems management at the University of Southern California in 1976, he began working for the Department of Energy in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Throughout his years in senior management, he proved a capable, calm and respectful leader.

After Evelyn’s death in 1993, he married JoAnn K. Middlewarth on Dec. 27, 1996. Ron retired in 1997. He enjoyed the quiet times. He was known as a man of few words and did not want his talk to get ahead of his walk. His greatest desire was to have a perfect love resulting in a spirit of complete unity.

Survivors include his wife JoAnn; daughters Shawna Johnson and granddaughter Maddison Johnson of Salt Lake City; and Aimee Johnson and grandchildren Jacob, Christopher and Carley Torres of Idaho Falls; brothers Dean Johnson of Cody and Gordon (Cheri) Johnson of Beaver Ridge, Wyo; sister Betty Anne (Kim) Sellergren of Richmond, Va., and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents and wife Evelyn.
