Minerva ‘Minnie’ Rios

(July 13, 1930 - June 29, 2014)

Minerva G. Rios died June 29, 2014, in Billings. She was 83.

Minerva was born July 13, 1930, in McAllen, Texas, to Matias Gonzalez and Candelaria Chavarria.

She married Raul Rios on Dec. 21, 1953, in McAllen. The couple lived in McAllen and Powell.

Known as Minnie to all of her loved ones, she loved to cook and spend time with her family. She was a homemaker and mother.

Minnie attended St. Barbara’s Catholic Church and also was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Matias Gonzalez and Candelaria Chavarria; husband Raul Rios; brother Ramon Gonzalez; and sisters, Claudia Garcia, Socorro Rodriguez, Rosario Garcia and a daughter-in-law Robin Rios.

She is survived by her sons Rolando Rios of Cody, Juan Rios of Powell and Ramiro Rios of Powell; daughters Velma Stingley (Dennis) of Powell and Arminta Garcia (Andres Trevino) of San Antonio, Texas; 11 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Mass services were held Wednesday, July 2, at the St. Barbara’s Catholic Church, with burial in the Crown Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Shawn Stingley, Joshua Rios, Ryan Gutierrez, Galen Stingley, Caleb Parker, Max Hansen III; and honorary pallbearers were Sylvia Rios-Hansen, Juan DeDios Garcia, Jose Alfredo Garcia, Jonathan Rios, Crystal Rios, Amanda Garcia, Brittany Fransway and RJ Rios.
