Helen Charlotte Muecke

(April 11, 1922 - June 24, 2014)

Helen Charlotte Muecke, 92, died peacefully on Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at the Powell Valley Care Center after a brief illness.

Helen was born on April 11, 1922, in Sidney, Mont., to Cyrus and Ruth (Link) Bock. She attended school in Sidney and graduated in 1940. Helen then entered into the Deaconess School of Nursing in Great Falls, Mont., in which she graduated in July 1944.

After graduating from nursing school, she was inducted into the United States Army. Helen was stationed in Europe from December 1944 to May 8, 1945. Helen was first shipped out to Everu, France, and she was then sent to the Philippines for three months. From there, she went to Camp Beake, Calif., on the Queen Mary. Helen was discharged from the Army as a first lieutenant.

Helen later moved to Powell and went to work for Dr. Lester Allison.

She met and married Hans Muecke on Sept. 3, 1949. To this union six children were born. Helen was a very devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a lifelong member of the Union Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday school and served on various committees in the church.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband Hans; parents Cyrus and Ruth Bock; brothers Ed and John Bock; and sister Betty McCrea.

Helen is survived by her children Georg (Barb) Muecke, Susan (Chip) Lowery, Cy (Kelly) Muecke, Jim (Bonita) Muecke, Miriam (Dirk) Currey and Paul (Kim) Muecke; sisters-in-law Dorothy Bock and Hilda Bock; brothers-in-law Martin (Lorraine) Muecke and Gerhard (Donna) Muecke.

Helen also is survived by 18 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Memorial and graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 3, at Union Presbyterian Church. A pie reception will immediately follow. Memorial donations can be made to the Union Presbyterian Church or a charity of your choice.
