Wayne C. Hodson

(July 19, 1932 - June 15, 2014)

Wayne C. Hodson, 81, died at West Park Hospital on Father’s Day Sunday, June 15, 2014, following a short illness. Wayne was born July 19, 1932, in Burlington, to Willis and Pearl Curtis Hodson. He attended Burlington High School, and later joined the United States Navy in June 1955 and served in Korea. He was very proud of his military service and serving his country.

Wayne was a true cowboy who took pride in his profession working on various ranches, and later was the manager of the T.E. Ranch for many years. Upon retirement he was employed by the Buffalo Bill Historical Center and First National Bank.

He loved to attend Cody High School basketball games, camping, hunting, having coffee with friends at the Irma, helping friends and neighbors, and rodeoing; especially with his favorites Pete, S.S, and Ramone. His family and friends were among his most cherished blessings in life.

He married Shirley Krenning on Aug. 15, 1965, in Cody. They had one daughter Rebekah “Becky” Amelia (Mark) Schonack of Aurora, Colo., and two grandchildren Garrett and Brooke.

He is survived by his wife Shirley, his brothers Al (Janet) of Cody and Gordon (Mary Ann) of Torrington; his sisters Gayla (Bob) Jones, of Heppner, Ore., and Joan (Ronnie) Gamble of Cody.

He is also survived by his children Betty Jean (Monte) Mavity, Wendy (Ralph) Page, Richard (Janet) Hodson, Kelly Alexander, Becky Cummings, and CJ (Kay) Hodson; along with several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents Willis and Pearl, his brother Guy, and sister Gwen.

The funeral service will be held Friday, June 20, at 10 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church, 2025 23rd St. in Cody with Rev. Pat Montgomery officiating.

Viewing for family and friends will be at the Ballard Funeral Home 636 19th St. in Cody from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, June 19.
