Dorothy M. Bush, 77, died May 22, 2014, at New Horizons Care Center.

Dorothy was born in St. Paul, Minn., on Aug. 4, 1936, the daughter of Cy and Bessie Lape and the youngest of three children.

She married Harvey Bush on Dec. 30, 1961. Of this marriage, five children were born.

Dorothy attended high school in St. Paul and earned her degree in education from St. Catherine’s University in 1959. She then moved to Lovell to teach Spanish and English at the middle school. She took a break from teaching to raise five children, working as a substitute teacher when needed. She then went back to full-time teaching English at Lovell High in 1983.

Dorothy was active in the community as a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Parish, the Delta Kappa Gamma Society, Red Hat Society and Lovell Women’s Club. Dorothy was a huge baseball fan, especially of the Minnesota Twins and New York Yankees. She enjoyed travel and went to New York City twice.

She is survived by her children Angela (Greg) Andersen of Colorado Springs, Colo., Paul Bush of Lovell, Dan (Sandy) Bush of Lovell, Mariann (Gregg) Jackson of Hudson, Wis., and John (Nancy) Bush of Phoenix; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She also is survived by her sister Mary Ann Corbey and brother John Lape, both of St. Paul.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Cy and Bessie Lape and her spouse, Harvey Bush in 1984.

Funeral services were at St. Joseph’s Catholic church on May 27, 2014. Burial followed in the Lovell Cemetery, where she was buried next to her husband.

Haskell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
