Students from Powell and across Wyoming will perform in the Rose Parade on New Year’s Day.

About 300 students with the Wyoming All-State Marching Band will march ahead of 2016 Rose Parade Grand Marshal Ken Burns and are projected to be on television at around 9:18 a.m. Friday, according to The Associated Press.

Local students in the band include: Wyatt Decker, Taylor Estes, Deasia Daugherty, Emily Sweet, Austin Chandler, Sydney Horton, Dylan McEvoy, Robert Sessions, Emma Waite, Antonio Garza, Charlie Hall, Sean Wagner, James Sheets, Kooper Stringer, Annie Price and Charles Grotefend.

Over the summer, the Wyoming All-State Marching Band practiced at Northwest College in Powell. Local residents could hear the band perform as they weaved through the streets of Powell during their practices. The band marched in the Cody Stampede Parade and Cheyenne Frontier Days Parade in July.

The Wyoming All-State Marching Band is a composite band with students representing up to 32 different communities and 27 high school programs, according to the band’s website.

It will be the 13th time the Wyoming All-State Marching Band has performed in the Rose Parade. Since its inception, more than 2,000 high school students have had the opportunity to be a part of the Wyoming All-State Marching Band.

Between performances, students will visit Disneyland, Universal Studios and go on a sightseeing tour in Hollywood and Beverly Hills. They are also scheduled to perform at Pasadena City College and Disneyland, according to The Associated Press.
