Autumn Bash Saturday at fairgrounds

The Autumn Bash at the Park County Fairgrounds Saturday afternoon will feature pumpkin painting, a costume contest, carnival games and more.

The bash takes place from 2-6 p.m. in the new Exhibit Hall at the fairgrounds.

The free event also will include penny carnival games provided by First Baptist Church in Powell and music by the Willwood Gypsy String Band.

Children and adults are invited to submit entries for the pumpkin carving contest. Categories are: painted, carved, sculpted and embellished. Entries are due Friday at 4:30 p.m. at the Park County Fair and Events Office, 655 East Fifth Street in Powell.

Food and beverages also will be available. The Autumn Bash is sponsored by Park County Events.

In addition to the Autumn Bash activities, Smashtoberfest begins at 4 p.m. in the Grandstand Arena at the fairgrounds. Organized by Hansels and Gretel’s, the event includes a variety of activities, including a pumpkin pie eating contest.

For Smashtoberfest, box seats are $18 and grandstand tickets are $16. Tickets are available at Hansel & Gretel’s in Powell through Friday or at the grandstands on Saturday.
