His son, Zane Logan, said Dan used to be a salesman for an electrical warehouse. As he traveled to different towns for his job, he would ask around to find out if anyone had any old cars for sale.

While in a North Dakota town on Jan. 1, 1961, Dan Logan posed his usual question, and a man said, “Oh, yeah, you must be talking about ...,” and he proceeded to tell Dan about a garage full of antique cars.

Among them was this Model T, which Dan Logan said had been shipped to a dealership in 1909 and used by the dealer to take his new bride on their honeymoon. Because of its sentimentality, the fellow had saved the car and used it only for parades and special occasions.

Then, in 1914, the dealership changed to Dodge, and the car was taken off the lot and retained by the same family.

“It's kind of unique in that respect,” Dan Logan said. “I call myself the first owner. I was the first purchaser.”

After purchasing the Model T, Dan Logan restored the antique vehicle. But that didn't require much work, he said, since it still had very few miles on it. It still has all of its original parts and trim.

“It's pretty much unique, because it hasn't been put together by a lot of parts from different cars,” he said.

Since its restoration, the car has been used to transport dignitaries in Powell on a few occasions.

“We used this back when Mr. Smith was the mayor (in the 1960s and ‘70s),” Dan Logan said.

It is slated to carry its most important riders to date during the Powell Centennial Celebration on Monday. Because the Model T's manufacture year coincides with the year of the birth of the city of Powell, Gov. Dave and first lady Nancy Freudenthal will ride in the 100-year-old vehicle in a procession to celebrate Powell's 100th birthday.

City Administrator Zane Logan said his father has owned many antique cars, including several Model Ts, but this one is special.
